Norwood 7 Male Pattern Baldness Case Study

Here we have Chris, who is in his mid 30’s and lives in the Los Angeles area. He has suffered from male pattern baldness since his early 20’s and has always rocked the “shaved head” look. It is quite common to see many of our clients in the same situation, where the hair loss began at an early age and became more severe over time. Chris has Norwood 7 level hair loss, meaning that there is no hair remaining on top of his head. These are cases in which SMP can provide quite a drastic transformation.

Chris opted for a hairline that would be youthful, without being overly aggressive. We always design our hairlines to satisfy the client’s preferences, while also making sure that the proportions match properly with the shape of their head and face. We start by drawing a conservative hairline, and the client can always choose to bring it lower during the treatment process. We selected a pigment shade that matched Chris’ hair at a shaved length, and we treated the entire top of his head.

The first procedure creates a foundational layer of density on the client’s scalp. Some mild redness will be present after treatment, but typically subsides within 2-4 days. After one week, we do the second procedure. This involves adding a layer of darker pigments in between the deposits we created during the first session. As soon as we finished Chris’ second session, he was absolutely thrilled with his results and even commented that it was one of the best SMP treatments he has ever seen!
