Male Pattern Baldness, Scar Concealment, And Alopecia Case Study
- Norwood scale: 5
- Haircut: Electric shaver
- Hairline Design: Soft
Here we have a client who is presenting with three different issues all at once: male pattern baldness, extensive hair transplant scarring, and alopecia areata. After undergoing multiple hair transplants, the client was only left with sparse density on top of his head. Later on, he also began developing patches of alopecia areata on his scalp. He had resorted to keeping his hair long and using large amounts of Toppik hair fibers to conceal his severe baldness and scarring. This became an incredibly cumbersome and impractical routine, which consumed significant amounts of his time every morning and still left him feeling very self-conscious about his hair.
The goal of any hair restoration treatment is to create the appearance of as much uniformity of density across the scalp as possible. Given the sheer number of areas of differing density and skin texture on this client’s scalp, this was a challenging case that needed to be approached with the utmost care. Over the course of five separate sessions, we meticulously blended the SMP treatment throughout his entire scalp. Because the scars and alopecia patches retained the pigment differently from the rest of his scalp, we adjusted our treatment approach accordingly throughout the sessions.
After completing all of his treatments, the client felt comfortable without any hats or hair fibers for the first time in years. He was so pleased with his results that he talked openly about his treatment with his friends and family, and they were all very impressed with his transformation!
