How is Male Pattern Baldness Diagnosed and How Does it Influence Hair Loss?
Recognizing male pattern baldness involves noting its specific hair loss pattern, which commonly affects the hairline and crown. This condition is among several hair disorders significantly influenced by genetics and hormones.
Stages of Male Pattern Baldness
Experts use the Hamilton-Norwood scale to measure the degree of hair loss, with Stage 1 reflecting the mildest form and Stage 7 indicating full baldness on the crown. Those classified as Norwood stages 1 to 3 typically experience a mild to moderate recession of the hairline.
At Norwood stages 4 and 5, patients have substantial hair loss in the frontal region, with marked thinning at the crown. Stages 6 to 7, however, reflect nearly complete or total baldness across the entire top of the scalp.
Some rare forms of male pattern baldness involve diffuse thinning across the whole scalp without any recession of the hairline, or hair loss confined to the crown area, with no significant change in the hairline.
Treatment For Male Pattern Hair Loss: Scalp Micropigmentation
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical treatment aimed at addressing male-pattern baldness. This process involves a targeted tattooing technique that mimics the look of natural hair follicles on the scalp. SMP can create the appearance of a full head of hair, irrespective of the level of hair loss.
Hair transplantation is limited by the finite number of donor hair grafts available, whereas Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) delivers an instant increase in hair density with no downtime. SMP does not rely on donor hair and can immediately provide the appearance of a thicker head of hair.
At Zang SMP in the Arlington, we use organic, plant-based pigments during our Scalp Micropigmentation treatments. These pigments create a realistic look of hair follicles on the scalp, offering a significant enhancement from baldness to a stylish, cropped (buzzed) hairstyle.
Say goodbye to surgery and painful hair transplants with Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). SMP enables you to achieve the hair look you desire without the discomfort of invasive procedures. If you're struggling with an unwanted bald head, SMP can offer a transformative solution that revitalizes your appearance.
The Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) process usually involves two to three treatments. The first and second treatments are scheduled a week apart for male-pattern hair loss. If a third treatment is needed, it will usually occur 1 to 3 months after the first two sessions.
