Best Scalp Micropigmentation in Temecula (SMP)
FAQs
What is Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation in Temecula is a non-surgical hair restoration procedure that uses advanced cosmetic techniques to help improve the appearance of thinning hair and baldness. Special pigments are applied to the scalp with precision to mimic the appearance of closely shaved hair follicles for a realistic look that blends in with the natural hair. The treatment can enhance the visual appearance of density, decrease the contrast of hair loss and bring back the look of a natural hairline. It is also commonly recommended with hair transplant procedures for better overall coverage and a more seamless result.
How many treatments do I need?
Most clients finish their Scalp Micropigmentation treatment in two sessions. The reason for the spacing of these appointments is to allow for proper healing and to see how the pigment settles in the skin. Because some loss of pigment is normal in the healing process, additional sessions will help to improve the overall appearance and consistency of the area being treated. Clients may also have a third session if they desire greater density or detail and to further personalize the results.
How long is each treatment?
The amount of time to treat each client varies, but most sessions range from two to four hours. The first appointment is usually the longest as it sets the foundation of the treatment and sets the general pattern. Follow-up sessions are used to build up density, refine the placement of pigment and improve the finished look so appointment length will depend on the amount of detail required.
Who decides on the construction of the hairline?
Your hairline is designed by a collaborative approach between your preferences and the expertise of our practitioners. We take a close look at your facial structure, natural hair pattern, age and desired look to recommend a hairline that looks realistic and balanced. Our aim is to provide a tailor made solution that will enhance your features and give you natural results that you will feel good about.
A "few years"? What does that mean exactly?
One of the biggest benefits of Scalp Micro-pigmentation is its longevity. Each client is different but generally we suggest maintenance appointments every five to eight years to keep the treatment looking its best. Factors such as skin type, sun exposure, lifestyle and how an individual heals can affect when a touch-up may be needed to refresh the pigmentation.
What are the aftercare instructions?
Following the suggested aftercare guidelines is one of the most important parts of achieving superb healing and long-lasting results. Do not wash your scalp or do any strenuous physical activity, touch the treated area or have a haircut for the first 4 days after your treatment. These precautions help to improve the pigment retention and allow the scalp to heal properly. Each client is also given a detailed aftercare guide with further instructions to help ensure a smooth recovery.
So I don't need to take time off from work?
The majority of patients are able to resume work or their normal daily activities within 24 hours of their appointment. Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical, non-invasive cosmetic procedure so there is usually very little or no down time. While the recovery is easy, it is important to follow the aftercare instructions as recommended to get the best possible outcome.
Will people be able to tell I have the treatment done?
The pigmentation may look darker than the final healed result immediately after your appointment. This is a normal part of the healing process and will change gradually as the skin recovers in the next few days. Mild redness is also common but usually fades after a short time. When healed, the pigmentation blends naturally into the scalp and provides a realistic appearance of very closely shaved hair follicles that are hard to differentiate from natural hair.
Does it hurt?
The procedure is far more comfortable than most clients expect before treatment. Generally, Scalp Micropigmentation is considered less painful than standard tattooing, but you might feel some mild sensitivity at some points of the procedure. Our practitioners use a gentle and controlled technique throughout the entire procedure to minimize discomfort and ensure a comfortable experience from start to finish.
Do I need to keep the shaved look?
How often you need to have your head shaved depends on your treatment plan and how much hair you have lost. Scalp Micropigmentation is designed to mimic the look of hair follicles, not bring back hair growth. Clients with significant thinning or baldness will usually get the most convincing results by keeping their hair very closely shaved. If surrounding hair is left a lot longer than the area treated, the difference in length can be more obvious. Clients with moderate thinning can often wear their hair a bit longer if the treatment is designed to improve the look of density.
Do you also do scar concealment?
Yes. Scalp Micropigmentation is widely used to camouflage scalp scars in addition to treating hair loss. We commonly treat scars from hair transplant procedures, surgeries, and previous injuries by applying pigment with precision to blend the affected area with the surrounding scalp, creating a smoother and more natural-looking result.
Do I need to cut my hair before the SMP treatment?
Proper hair preparation is essential for achieving the best cosmetic outcome. Clients receiving density enhancement or scar concealment are usually encouraged to trim their hair to the shortest style they intend to keep after treatment. For individuals with extensive hair loss, shaving the scalp before the procedure often produces the most realistic final appearance.
What do I do for optimal maintenance?
Our practitioners provide customized maintenance guidance to help you preserve the appearance of your treatment over time. Recommendations may include scalp care products, grooming routines, and other helpful practices that support long-lasting Scalp Micropigmentation results.
Do I have something to worry about when I continue to shave my head?
No. Once your scalp has completely healed, regular shaving becomes part of normal maintenance and will not damage the pigment. Many of our clients continue shaving frequently while maintaining consistent, natural-looking results.
Will it affect the treatment if I continue to shave my head?
No. Continuing to shave your head does not affect the pigment or reduce the quality of your Scalp Micropigmentation. Because the pigment is deposited beneath the surface of the skin, it remains intact and continues to create the appearance of natural hair follicles with each shave.
How much will the SMP treatment cost?
Scalp Micropigmentation pricing is customized because every client's treatment needs are different. The total investment depends on factors including the amount of hair loss, the size of the treatment area, and the density required to achieve a realistic appearance. Most treatment plans begin with two appointments approximately one week apart, allowing the pigment to settle while establishing a natural-looking base. Clients seeking additional refinement or density may schedule a third session one to three months later. Scar camouflage treatments generally cost between $800 and $1,000 per session. Norwood levels 2 through 4 typically range from $2,400 to $3,400, while Norwood levels 5 through 7 generally range from $3,400 to $4,200. Extensive treatment plans involving larger scalp areas, scar camouflage, or multiple sessions usually range from $4,200 to $5,200. Your final quote will be based on your unique treatment plan and cosmetic objectives.
How do I best protect my SMP from sunlight?
Keeping your scalp protected from prolonged sunlight is one of the simplest ways to maintain your Scalp Micropigmentation. While SMP is designed to provide durable results, excessive ultraviolet exposure can gradually contribute to fading. Applying sunscreen regularly and wearing a hat whenever you expect to spend significant time outdoors can help preserve the appearance of the pigment and support long-lasting results.
How much does it cost?
Treatment costs are determined by the amount of scalp requiring treatment and the complexity of the overall procedure. Most clients start with two treatment sessions and may add a third appointment if additional density or finishing detail is needed. Scar camouflage procedures generally range from $800 to $1,000 per session. Treatments for Norwood levels 2 through 4 typically cost between $2,400 and $3,400, while Norwood levels 5 through 7 generally range from $3,400 to $4,200. More extensive treatment plans usually fall between $4,200 and $5,200.
When are the payments due?
A $400 deposit is required to confirm your treatment appointments. Because appointment availability may be limited, advance scheduling is recommended. The remaining balance is typically divided between your first and second sessions. Financing options are available to help make treatment fit your budget.

Just finished my 3rd session with Walter, best investment ever. I've tried everything short of a hair transplant over the past ten years and eventually stumbled upon SMP. I searched and researched the best SMP practitioners in the country and then decided to call the folks at Zang. Ridwan expertly walked me through the whole procedure and answered all of my questions.
If you're comfortable with the buzz cut look, SMP is the only way to go. And the team at Zang SMP are the real deal, true artists.

As a female, I didn't want to leave a public review in fear of someone I know seeing it - but at the same time, I want everyone to know about the amazingness that Zang SMP is!!! As someone who struggled with severe postpartum hair loss and a receding hair line, I really thought I would be a slave to hair powders and fillers for life (if not a transplant) and that has all changed!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience!! If you are female and hesitant to do this, DON'T BE!!! It will change your life!!! Huge thank you to Ridwan, Walter, and the rest of the guys at Zang!! Forever grateful!
Laura
I don't normally write reviews cause it's a waste of my time but I have to this time. Over the last 20 years, I've done 3 hair transplant procedures and I was not happy with the results. I started looking into SMP and call many places before I settled with Zang SMP. It's a bit more expensive but let me tell you, worth every pennies. After the 2nd time, everyone said there's no sign that I was ever bald. And what can I say about Walter. I couldn't thank him enough. He gave me the confident I needed and a new look in life. He's such a perfectionist and took the time to do it right and make sure I'm happy with the result. I even recommended my brother to give him a call.

Thank u so much Walter and Ridd for your excellent customer service and I can't be any happier with the results. Walter is truly a master of his craft and he was able to hide my scar very well. I had gone to a different smp place before but wasnt happy with results. Zang Smp gave me the results I was looking for. There a reason why they have 5 stars on their reviews! Highly recommend!

These guys changed my life for the better. I have had alopecia for 10 years, wearing wigs and being generally uncomfortable. I was looking for a long-term solution to my alopecia and this was it. Ridwan is a delight to set things up with, and Walter has a real eye for the details. This is worth the money. A load has been lifted and I couldn’t be happier. My only regret is not coming here sooner!

Zang is THE most skilled and experienced SMP practitioner BY FAR. I have had multiple treatments with him to fill in the density in my hair and beard, and the results are amazing. People don't even believe I've had anything done until I show them my before/after pics. Zang is a great guy with an incredible attention to detail, and his work has restored my confidence big time. I really can't recommend him enough. 5 stars!
