Why Zang SMP?
Why Zang SMP?
Hear from our customers
Just finished my 3rd session with Walter, best investment ever. I've tried everything short of a hair transplant over the past ten years and eventually stumbled upon SMP. I searched and researched the best SMP practitioners in the country and then decided to call the folks at Zang. Ridwan expertly walked me through the whole procedure and answered all of my questions.
If you're comfortable with the buzz cut look, SMP is the only way to go. And the team at Zang SMP are the real deal, true artists.

As a female, I didn't want to leave a public review in fear of someone I know seeing it - but at the same time, I want everyone to know about the amazingness that Zang SMP is!!! As someone who struggled with severe postpartum hair loss and a receding hair line, I really thought I would be a slave to hair powders and fillers for life (if not a transplant) and that has all changed!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience!! If you are female and hesitant to do this, DON'T BE!!! It will change your life!!! Huge thank you to Ridwan, Walter, and the rest of the guys at Zang!! Forever grateful!

I don't normally write reviews cause it's a waste of my time but I have to this time. Over the last 20 years, I've done 3 hair transplant procedures and I was not happy with the results. I started looking into SMP and call many places before I settled with ZangSMP. It's a bit more expensive but let me tell you, worth every pennies. After the 2nd time, everyone said there's no sign that I was ever bald. And what can I say about Walter. I couldn't thank him enough. He gave me the confident I needed and a new look in life. He's such a perfectionist and took the time to do it right and make sure I'm happy with the result. I even recommended my brother to give him a call.

Thank u so much Walter and Ridd for your excellent customer service and I can't be any happier with the results. Walter is truly a master of his craft and he was able to hide my scar very well. I had gone to a different smp place before but wasnt happy with results. Zang Smp gave me the results I was looking for. There a reason why they have 5 stars on their reviews! Highly recommend!

These guys changed my life for the better. I have had alopecia for 10 years, wearing wigs and being generally uncomfortable. I was looking for a long-term solution to my alopecia and this was it. Ridwan is a delight to set things up with, and Walter has a real eye for the details. This is worth the money. A load has been lifted and I couldn’t be happier. My only regret is not coming here sooner!

Zang is THE most skilled and experienced SMP practitioner BY FAR. I have had multiple treatments with him to fill in the density in my hair and beard, and the results are amazing. People don't even believe I've had anything done until I show them my before/after pics. Zang is a great guy with an incredible attention to detail, and his work has restored my confidence big time. I really can't recommend him enough. 5 stars!

Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Zang SMP for SMP treatment?
Zang SMP offers unparalleled expertise and a proven history of success. Our team is focused on providing customized care and the highest quality results, helping you regain your confidence and look your best.
What is Scalp Micropigmentation with Zang SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) at Zang SMP is a non-invasive procedure that deposits organic, plant-based pigments into the scalp, mimicking the appearance of natural hair follicles. Whether you're looking to achieve a 5 o'clock shadow look or add density after a hair transplant, SMP can give you the full, natural look you desire.
How many treatments do I need?
Typically, two sessions spaced about one week apart are required to achieve optimal results. The first treatment shows noticeable improvement, and the second session finalizes the look. In some cases, a third session may be needed for touch-ups within 1 to 3 months.
How long is each treatment?
Each treatment at Zang SMP typically lasts between 2-4 hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure. The first session may take the longest as we carefully design your hairline and lay down the first layer of pigment. Subsequent sessions tend to be shorter, although they may vary based on how well the previous pigments have settled.
Who decides on the construction of the hairline?
The design of your hairline is a collaborative effort at Zang SMP. We factor in your unique facial features and your personal preferences to craft a natural and harmonious look. Our aim is to ensure that the new hairline enhances your overall appearance and meets your aesthetic goals.
I've already had 3 treatments, now what?
Once you've completed your initial treatments and followed our aftercare guidelines, you can start enjoying the results of your Scalp Micropigmentation. At Zang SMP, we offer a one-year guarantee for your treatment, so if any fading occurs, we provide a free touch-up session. After that, maintenance is usually required every few years.
A "few years"? What does that mean exactly?
Most clients find that touch-ups are needed every 5-8 years. While SMP is a permanent procedure, the pigments may fade over time due to natural skin wear and tear, which is why periodic touch-ups are recommended to maintain a fresh look.
What are the aftercare instructions?
Following our 4-day post-treatment care instructions is essential to minimize fading and prevent contamination. During the first 4 days, avoid touching, washing, or cutting the treated area, and refrain from working out. You may wear a hat immediately after your treatment. Don’t worry about sleeping on your treatment, as the pigment won’t smudge or transfer onto your pillow. For detailed guidance, please refer to the full aftercare instructions in the attached PDF.

So I don't need to take time off from work?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive and non-surgical procedure, meaning no downtime is required. After following the 4-day aftercare instructions, most clients return to work the next day without any issues. You can go about your daily routine with minimal disruption.
Will people be able to tell I have the treatment done?
After your first treatment, the pigments will appear darker and bolder, but this will soften and settle overnight. Redness from the procedure will subside within 48-72 hours, depending on your skin’s sensitivity. Clients usually see a significant reduction in redness by the second day. Once everything settles, your treatment will blend seamlessly with your natural appearance.
Does it hurt?
Most clients find that the discomfort from Scalp Micropigmentation is less intense compared to a traditional tattoo. Pain levels vary from person to person, but our Zang SMP team prioritizes your comfort and ensures that the process is as smooth as possible.
Do I need to keep the shaved look?
During your consultation, we will evaluate your hair loss pattern to determine the best treatment plan tailored to your needs. For those classified as Norwood 6-7, we recommend maintaining a shaved look due to the extensive coverage required to achieve the desired results with SMP. As the hair on the back and sides continues to grow, it will create a noticeable contrast with the SMP, making the treatment more obvious. Since SMP involves replicating hair follicles with pigmentation, which won’t grow or develop a 3D texture, a shaved look helps maintain a seamless appearance. For individuals seeking to add density to their existing hairline or crown, a filler treatment may be suitable, especially for those with some natural hair left to blend with the SMP.
Do you also do scar concealment?
Absolutely! Scalp Micropigmentation is not limited to male pattern baldness—it’s also highly effective for concealing scars from past surgeries or injuries. Whether you have FUE or FUT transplant scars, SMP can seamlessly camouflage them, restoring a natural and smooth appearance.
Do I need to cut my hair before your SMP treatment?
For filler treatments or scar concealment, we generally ask clients to come with their hair cut to the shortest length they plan to maintain, unless otherwise specified. If you have a Class 6 or 7 hair loss, you will need to shave your head prior to your appointment and continue to maintain the shaved look to ensure optimal results.
What do I do for optimal maintenance?
We will recommend specific products to help maintain the longevity and appearance of your treatment. Please refer to our products recommendation page for the best options tailored to your needs.
Will it affect the treatment if I continue to shave my head?
Shaving your head regularly will not interfere with the results of your SMP treatment. Since the pigment is deposited into the epidermis layer, it will remain unaffected by daily shaving or washing. In fact, many of our clients who undergo this treatment shave their heads daily without any issues.
How do I best protect my SMP from sunlight?
To protect your SMP treatment from the harmful effects of sunlight, it's important to avoid prolonged exposure. Always apply sunscreen or wear a hat if you anticipate being in the sun for extended periods. This will prevent the pigments from fading and protect both your scalp and the treatment.
How much does it cost?
The cost of Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) varies depending on the severity of hair loss and the amount of treatment required. Typically, the first two sessions are spaced one week apart, with a potential third session scheduled 1-3 months later. For scar concealment, the cost ranges from $800 to $1,000 per treatment. For Class 2-4 hair loss, pricing ranges from $2,400 to $3,400, while Class 5-7 hair loss ranges from $3,400 to $4,200. For treatments involving scar concealment on the scalp, the cost is between $4,200 and $5,200 for two to three sessions.
When are the payments due?
A $400 deposit is required to secure your treatment appointment, with an 8-week wait time on average. The remaining balance is divided into two payments, due before the first and second treatments. Financing options are available to help with the payment process.

How can SMP help with male and female pattern baldness?
SMP is an effective cosmetic solution for both male and female pattern baldness. It works by applying natural pigments to the scalp, mimicking the appearance of short, shaved hair follicles. This non-invasive procedure offers a permanent alternative to hair transplants, creating the look of a closely shaved head without the need for surgical intervention.
Can SMP address thinning hair and provide a denser look?
Yes, SMP is a highly effective solution for creating the illusion of thicker, fuller hair. By applying natural pigments in areas with thinning hair, the procedure enhances the contrast between the scalp and hair, making the hair appear denser. This method works well for both men and women looking to improve the volume and overall density of their hair.
What solutions does your SMP offer for scar camouflage and botched SMP repairs?
SMP is a powerful tool for concealing scars, whether from surgery, injury, or previous hair transplant procedures. It can also fix subpar SMP results by adding pigment to scarred or uneven areas. This helps blend the treated areas seamlessly with the surrounding hair, giving your scalp a more uniform and natural appearance.
Is SMP a viable option for alopecia?
SMP can be an excellent choice for individuals with alopecia, especially those suffering from alopecia areata or totalis. By replicating hair follicles, SMP can effectively camouflage bald patches, creating a smooth, uniform look across the scalp. This technique helps reduce the visibility of bald spots, providing the appearance of a closely shaved head.
