What Our SMP Services Can Fix
Why Zang SMP?
Why Zang SMP?
Hear from our customers
Just finished my 3rd session with Walter, best investment ever. I've tried everything short of a hair transplant over the past ten years and eventually stumbled upon SMP. I searched and researched the best SMP practitioners in the country and then decided to call the folks at Zang. Ridwan expertly walked me through the whole procedure and answered all of my questions.
If you're comfortable with the buzz cut look, SMP is the only way to go. And the team at Zang SMP are the real deal, true artists.

As a female, I didn't want to leave a public review in fear of someone I know seeing it - but at the same time, I want everyone to know about the amazingness that Zang SMP is!!! As someone who struggled with severe postpartum hair loss and a receding hair line, I really thought I would be a slave to hair powders and fillers for life (if not a transplant) and that has all changed!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience!! If you are female and hesitant to do this, DON'T BE!!! It will change your life!!! Huge thank you to Ridwan, Walter, and the rest of the guys at Zang!! Forever grateful!

I don't normally write reviews cause it's a waste of my time but I have to this time. Over the last 20 years, I've done 3 hair transplant procedures and I was not happy with the results. I started looking into SMP and call many places before I settled with ZangSMP. It's a bit more expensive but let me tell you, worth every pennies. After the 2nd time, everyone said there's no sign that I was ever bald. And what can I say about Walter. I couldn't thank him enough. He gave me the confident I needed and a new look in life. He's such a perfectionist and took the time to do it right and make sure I'm happy with the result. I even recommended my brother to give him a call.

Thank u so much Walter and Ridd for your excellent customer service and I can't be any happier with the results. Walter is truly a master of his craft and he was able to hide my scar very well. I had gone to a different smp place before but wasnt happy with results. Zang Smp gave me the results I was looking for. There a reason why they have 5 stars on their reviews! Highly recommend!

These guys changed my life for the better. I have had alopecia for 10 years, wearing wigs and being generally uncomfortable. I was looking for a long-term solution to my alopecia and this was it. Ridwan is a delight to set things up with, and Walter has a real eye for the details. This is worth the money. A load has been lifted and I couldn’t be happier. My only regret is not coming here sooner!

Zang is THE most skilled and experienced SMP practitioner BY FAR. I have had multiple treatments with him to fill in the density in my hair and beard, and the results are amazing. People don't even believe I've had anything done until I show them my before/after pics. Zang is a great guy with an incredible attention to detail, and his work has restored my confidence big time. I really can't recommend him enough. 5 stars!

Zang SMP - Best Scalp Micropigmentation in Laguna Beach, Los Angeles
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Zang SMP for SMP treatment?
Zang SMP is the leading provider of Scalp Micropigmentation in Laguna Beach, offering expertise and a personalized approach that ensures you achieve the best possible results. Our team is dedicated to providing you with a natural, realistic look that boosts your confidence and transforms your appearance.
What is Scalp Micropigmentation with Zang SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation at Zang SMP involves the non-invasive application of organic, plant-based pigment to the scalp, mimicking natural hair follicles. Whether you're looking to restore a full hairline or add density to thinning areas, SMP provides a natural-looking solution to hair loss.
How many treatments do I need?
To achieve the best results, Zang SMP typically recommends two sessions spaced a week apart. The first treatment provides noticeable improvement, while the second session ensures the final look. A third session may be required for touch-ups if needed within 1 to 3 months.
How long is each treatment?
Sessions at Zang SMP typically last between 2 and 4 hours, depending on how complex the treatment is. The first session is usually the longest, as we meticulously create your hairline and lay down the initial pigment layer. Follow-up sessions are generally shorter but can vary based on pigment retention.
Who decides on the construction of the hairline?
The hairline design is a joint effort between you and the Zang SMP team. We assess your facial structure and listen to your preferences to ensure that the design looks natural and complements your overall appearance. Our goal is to craft a hairline that enhances your look while fitting your vision.
I've already had 3 treatments, now what?
After completing your treatments and adhering to our aftercare instructions, you’ll begin to enjoy the lasting benefits of your SMP treatment. We offer a one-year guarantee on all treatments, and if fading occurs within that time, we’ll provide a complimentary touch-up. Moving forward, periodic touch-ups will be necessary every few years.
A "few years"? What does that mean exactly?
For most of our clients, touch-ups are usually needed every 5 to 8 years. While SMP is permanent, the pigments may lighten due to the natural skin shedding process, so maintenance is important to keep the results looking fresh.
What are the aftercare instructions?
To ensure optimal results and prevent pigment fading, it's important to follow our 4-day aftercare instructions carefully. This includes avoiding touching, washing, or cutting the treated area, and refraining from physical activities that may cause perspiration. You may wear a hat immediately after the procedure. The pigment will not smudge if you sleep on it. For a complete guide to aftercare, refer to the attached PDF.
So I don't need to take time off from work?
No, you do not need to take time off. Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive treatment, and after following the 4-day aftercare instructions, you can typically return to your normal activities, including work, the very next day.
Will people be able to tell I have the treatment done?
Immediately after your first session, the pigment may appear bold, but it will soften within the next 24 hours. Redness is common, but it will subside within 48-72 hours, depending on skin sensitivity. Once fully healed, the results will look completely natural and undetectable.
Does it hurt?
The discomfort from Scalp Micropigmentation is generally less than that of a traditional tattoo. While pain tolerance can vary between individuals, our practitioners at Zang SMP prioritize your comfort and strive to make the treatment as smooth and painless as possible.
Do I need to keep the shaved look?
We will assess your hair loss pattern during the consultation, either in person or via a web assessment. Based on the extent of your hair loss, we will recommend a treatment plan that’s best suited for you. For those with Norwood 6-7 hair loss, it’s necessary to maintain a shaved look, as the SMP procedure involves creating full coverage on the scalp. As the natural hair on the back and sides continues to grow, it will contrast with the SMP treatment, making the pigmentation more noticeable. Since SMP doesn’t produce 3D texture or grow like real hair, keeping your hair shaved ensures a cohesive appearance. For clients seeking more density, especially in the hairline or crown, filler treatments can be a great option, provided there’s still some natural hair to blend with.
Do you also do scar concealment?
Yes! Scalp Micropigmentation is a versatile solution that can conceal scars from various causes, including previous surgeries or injuries. If you have FUE or FUT transplant scars, SMP can blend them with the rest of your scalp, creating a natural and flawless look.
Do I need to cut my hair before your SMP treatment?
If you're opting for filler treatments or scar concealment, we ask clients to come in with their hair trimmed to the shortest length they plan to keep, unless otherwise instructed. For those with Class 6 or 7 hair loss, shaving your head is necessary before treatment, and it should be maintained at that length for the best results.
What do I do for optimal maintenance?
We will provide personalized recommendations for products that will help preserve your SMP treatment. Be sure to visit our product recommendation page to discover the best options for maintaining your results.
Will it affect the treatment if I continue to shave my head?
You can continue to shave and wash your head without worrying about affecting your SMP treatment. Since the pigment is placed in the epidermis, it won’t be impacted by daily shaving. Many of our clients shave their heads every day without any problems.
How do I best protect my SMP from sunlight?
To avoid damaging your SMP treatment, it's essential to protect your scalp from prolonged sun exposure. Always wear sunscreen or a hat when you expect to be in the sun for more than an hour to prevent the pigments from fading prematurely.
How much does it cost?
The price of SMP depends on your hair loss condition and the amount of work needed. The first two treatments are spaced one week apart, with a third possible session 1-3 months later. Scar concealment treatments range from $800 to $1,000 per session. For Class 2-4 hair loss, treatments cost between $2,400 and $3,400, while Class 5-7 hair loss costs between $3,400 and $4,200. For a combination treatment involving scar concealment, the cost ranges from $4,200 to $5,200 for two to three treatments.
When are the payments due?
A $400 booking deposit is required to secure your spot, with an expected wait time of about 8 weeks. The remaining cost is split into two payments, made before your first and second treatments. We also offer financing options for your convenience.
How do I get started?
You can get started by contacting us at 310-425-4975 or by emailing info@zangsmp.com to arrange your free consultation. If you're unable to come in for an in-person visit, we can still help by reviewing photos of your scalp (top-down view) and any scars, followed by a phone or video consultation via Facetime or Skype.
How can SMP help with male and female pattern baldness?
SMP provides a non-invasive solution for both male and female pattern baldness. The process involves applying natural pigment to the scalp, simulating the look of short, shaved hair follicles. This permanent solution creates the illusion of fuller hair, offering an alternative to hair transplants.
Can SMP address thinning hair and provide a denser look?
Yes, SMP is an effective treatment for thinning hair. By carefully applying pigments to thinning areas, the treatment enhances the contrast between your hair and scalp, making the hair appear fuller and denser. It's a great solution for both men and women who want to improve the appearance of their hair's volume.
What solutions does your SMP offer for scar camouflage and botched SMP repairs?
SMP is a reliable method for concealing scalp scars from injuries, surgeries, or previous hair transplants. It is also ideal for correcting unsatisfactory previous SMP procedures. By applying natural pigments to the affected areas, SMP blends imperfections with the surrounding hair, restoring a more balanced and natural-looking scalp.
Is SMP a viable option for alopecia?
Yes, SMP can be an effective solution for individuals with alopecia, especially those with alopecia areata or totalis. It mimics natural hair follicles to cover bald patches and creates a uniform, shaved head appearance. SMP can help restore confidence by reducing the visibility of bald spots and achieving a cohesive, fuller look.
