What Our SMP Services Can Fix
Why Zang SMP?
Why Zang SMP?
Hear from our customers
Just finished my 3rd session with Walter, best investment ever. I've tried everything short of a hair transplant over the past ten years and eventually stumbled upon SMP. I searched and researched the best SMP practitioners in the country and then decided to call the folks at Zang. Ridwan expertly walked me through the whole procedure and answered all of my questions.
If you're comfortable with the buzz cut look, SMP is the only way to go. And the team at Zang SMP are the real deal, true artists.

As a female, I didn't want to leave a public review in fear of someone I know seeing it - but at the same time, I want everyone to know about the amazingness that Zang SMP is!!! As someone who struggled with severe postpartum hair loss and a receding hair line, I really thought I would be a slave to hair powders and fillers for life (if not a transplant) and that has all changed!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience!! If you are female and hesitant to do this, DON'T BE!!! It will change your life!!! Huge thank you to Ridwan, Walter, and the rest of the guys at Zang!! Forever grateful!
Laura
I don't normally write reviews cause it's a waste of my time but I have to this time. Over the last 20 years, I've done 3 hair transplant procedures and I was not happy with the results. I started looking into SMP and call many places before I settled with ZangSMP. It's a bit more expensive but let me tell you, worth every pennies. After the 2nd time, everyone said there's no sign that I was ever bald. And what can I say about Walter. I couldn't thank him enough. He gave me the confident I needed and a new look in life. He's such a perfectionist and took the time to do it right and make sure I'm happy with the result. I even recommended my brother to give him a call.

Thank u so much Walter and Ridd for your excellent customer service and I can't be any happier with the results. Walter is truly a master of his craft and he was able to hide my scar very well. I had gone to a different smp place before but wasnt happy with results. Zang Smp gave me the results I was looking for. There a reason why they have 5 stars on their reviews! Highly recommend!

These guys changed my life for the better. I have had alopecia for 10 years, wearing wigs and being generally uncomfortable. I was looking for a long-term solution to my alopecia and this was it. Ridwan is a delight to set things up with, and Walter has a real eye for the details. This is worth the money. A load has been lifted and I couldn’t be happier. My only regret is not coming here sooner!

Zang is THE most skilled and experienced SMP practitioner BY FAR. I have had multiple treatments with him to fill in the density in my hair and beard, and the results are amazing. People don't even believe I've had anything done until I show them my before/after pics. Zang is a great guy with an incredible attention to detail, and his work has restored my confidence big time. I really can't recommend him enough. 5 stars!

Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Zang SMP for SMP treatment?
At Zang SMP, we pride ourselves on our unparalleled skill and experience. We tailor each treatment to meet your specific needs, ensuring that the results are natural and that you feel confident in your appearance.
What is Scalp Micropigmentation with Zang SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation at Zang SMP is a revolutionary, non-surgical technique that uses plant-based pigments to create the illusion of a fuller head of hair. Whether you're dealing with thinning hair or seeking to enhance your hairline after a transplant, our SMP treatment is designed to restore a natural, dense look.
How many treatments do I need?
Most clients undergo two treatments, scheduled one week apart. This allows the scalp to accept the pigment fully. While the first session shows noticeable results, the second ensures the final look is achieved. Occasionally, a third session may be needed for touch-ups.
How long is each treatment?
The duration of each treatment session at Zang SMP ranges from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the complexity of the work required. The first treatment is often the longest as we focus on crafting the foundation of your hairline. Following sessions are typically shorter but may vary depending on pigment retention.
Who decides on the construction of the hairline?
At Zang SMP, we work with you to design a hairline that suits your facial features and desired appearance. The process is a partnership where your preferences are prioritized, and we ensure the result enhances your look naturally.
I've already had 3 treatments, now what?
After completing your three treatments and following the aftercare steps, you can begin to fully appreciate the results of your Scalp Micropigmentation. Zang SMP provides a one-year guarantee for each treatment. If there is any lightening of the pigment, we will offer a free touch-up. Maintenance sessions will generally be needed every few years after the initial treatments.
A "few years"? What does that mean exactly?
Touch-ups are typically needed every 5 to 8 years, depending on your skin’s natural wear. While Scalp Micropigmentation is a permanent procedure, the pigments will naturally lighten due to skin regeneration and exposure, requiring occasional maintenance.
What are the aftercare instructions?
For the first 4 days following your treatment, it's crucial to adhere to our post-care instructions to avoid excessive fading and infection. During this time, avoid touching, washing, cutting, and engaging in any strenuous activities. You can wear a hat right after your treatment. Sleeping won’t affect the pigment, as it won’t smear onto your pillow. For detailed care instructions, please refer to the PDF attached.

So I don't need to take time off from work?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure, so there’s no need for time off from work. Many of our clients undergo treatment and return to their normal activities the very next day after following the 4-day aftercare instructions.
Will people be able to tell I have the treatment done?
Immediately after the procedure, the pigments may appear more intense. However, they will soften and settle by the following day. Redness is also common and will fade within 48-72 hours, depending on skin sensitivity. Once the healing process is complete, the results will look entirely natural.
Does it hurt?
Most clients report less pain than they would expect from a traditional tattoo. Pain tolerance varies between individuals, but our experienced practitioners at Zang SMP ensure your comfort throughout the entire procedure, making the experience as comfortable as possible.
Do I need to keep the shaved look?
At your consultation, we’ll assess the degree of your hair loss and determine which style and treatment approach will best suit your situation. Clients with Norwood 6-7 hair loss typically need to keep their hair shaved for the SMP treatment to look its best. The contrast between the shaved areas and the growing hair on the sides and back can make the treatment more noticeable over time. SMP is a permanent procedure where we mimic hair follicles with pigments, but these pigments won’t grow, creating a flat look. For clients wanting added density in their hairline or crown, we can recommend a filler treatment, which works well for those who still have some natural hair to blend with.
Do you also do scar concealment?
Yes, we specialize in scar concealment with Scalp Micropigmentation. Whether you have scarring from a hair transplant (FUE or FUT) or any other injury, we can use SMP to effectively cover and blend the scar tissue, creating a natural-looking, smooth scalp.
Do I need to cut my hair before your SMP treatment?
For filler treatments or scar concealment, we recommend that clients arrive with their hair cut to the shortest length they plan to keep, unless another style is requested. If you're experiencing Class 6 or 7 hair loss, you will need to shave your head before your appointment and maintain that length going forward.
What do I do for optimal maintenance?
For the best maintenance of your treatment, we will offer product recommendations. For more details, visit our product recommendation page, where you’ll find suggestions to help preserve your results.
Will it affect the treatment if I continue to shave my head?
Shaving your head will not harm the SMP treatment, as the pigment is placed in the epidermis, which isn't affected by shaving. In fact, most of our clients continue shaving their heads regularly without any negative impact on their treatment.
How do I best protect my SMP from sunlight?
To ensure your SMP treatment stays vibrant, minimize exposure to direct sunlight. Always apply sunscreen to your scalp or wear a hat when you're out in the sun for extended periods of time. This helps to protect the pigments from fading over time.
How much does it cost?
The cost of SMP treatment depends on your level of hair loss and the amount of work required. The first two treatments are typically scheduled one week apart, with a possible third treatment 1-3 months later. Prices for scar concealment range from $800 to $1,000 per session. For Class 2-4 hair loss, treatment costs between $2,400 and $3,400, while Class 5-7 hair loss typically costs between $3,400 and $4,200. For a combination of top-of-the-scalp treatment and scar concealment, the total cost ranges from $4,200 to $5,200.
When are the payments due?
A $400 deposit is required when booking your treatment to reserve your appointment. The balance is split evenly between the first two sessions, with payment due before each treatment. We also offer financing options to make payments more manageable.
How do I get started?
To begin the process, contact us at 310-425-4975 or via email at info@zangsmp.com to schedule your free consultation. If you're unable to visit in person, we can arrange a virtual consultation by having you send us photos of your scalp (top-down view) and scar, followed by a phone or video session via Facetime or Skype.
How can SMP help with male and female pattern baldness?
SMP provides an excellent cosmetic solution for individuals with male and female pattern baldness. By applying natural pigment to the scalp, we replicate the look of short, shaved hair follicles. This non-invasive treatment creates the appearance of a fuller head of hair, providing a permanent alternative to traditional hair transplants.
Can SMP address thinning hair and provide a denser look?
Yes, SMP is an ideal solution for individuals experiencing thinning hair. By strategically placing pigments in areas where hair is sparse, the treatment enhances the contrast between your hair and scalp, making the hair appear fuller and denser. This technique is suitable for both men and women who wish to mask thinning hair and achieve a thicker look.
What solutions does your SMP offer for scar camouflage and botched SMP repairs?
Our SMP service can successfully mask scars from past surgeries, injuries, or hair transplant procedures. Additionally, we can correct poorly executed SMP treatments. By applying pigment to the scarred areas, we help integrate these imperfections into the surrounding hair, creating a more natural and seamless look on the scalp.
Is SMP a viable option for alopecia?
SMP offers a great solution for those dealing with alopecia, particularly alopecia areata or totalis. The technique mimics natural hair follicles, effectively covering bald patches and giving the scalp a uniform, shaved look. SMP minimizes the visibility of bald spots, making it an excellent non-invasive option for those with alopecia.
