Best Scalp Micropigmentation in Corona (SMP)
FAQs
What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?
In Corona, scalp micropigmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic solution that involves the precise application of organic, plant-based pigments into the dermal layer of the scalp. These pigments are carefully positioned to replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles, creating the illusion of a fuller head of hair. Individuals who are completely bald can achieve a realistic five o’clock shadow, while those experiencing thinning hair or unsatisfactory results from hair transplants can enjoy enhanced density and improved scalp aesthetics. SMP provides a long-lasting, natural, and low-maintenance approach to restoring the look of hair and boosting self-confidence.
How many treatments do I need?
Most clients require a minimum of two treatment sessions, scheduled about one week apart. This spacing allows the scalp to gradually absorb the pigment, as some may naturally fade or be rejected after the initial application. While visible improvements can be seen after the first session, the second session is essential for completing the coverage, balancing density, and achieving a polished and realistic final result. Occasionally, a third session may be suggested one to three months later to refine details and perfect the overall look.
How long is each treatment?
Each SMP session typically lasts between two and four hours, depending on the size of the area being treated and the complexity of the work. The first session usually takes the longest since it involves establishing the hairline and applying the foundational layer of pigment. Follow-up sessions are generally shorter but may vary depending on how the pigment has settled and how much additional work is required to achieve a flawless, natural finish.
Who decides on the construction of the hairline?
Your hairline design is determined through a combination of professional assessment and personal preference. Practitioners consider your facial structure, natural hairline, and desired aesthetic to craft a hairline that looks authentic and complements your features. By combining expertise with your input, the team ensures a hairline that is both visually appealing and fully customized to your unique look.
I've already had 3 treatments, now what?
After completing your series of treatments and following the recommended aftercare, you can enjoy the benefits of your enhanced scalp with confidence. ZangSMP provides a one-year guarantee covering any pigment fading during that time, allowing for complimentary touch-ups as needed. After the first year, most clients only require occasional maintenance every few years to maintain the vibrancy and definition of their SMP treatment.
A "few years"? What does that mean exactly?
Typically, touch-ups are recommended every five to eight years. While SMP is considered permanent, normal skin changes, exposure to sunlight, and aging can gradually reduce pigment intensity. Periodic maintenance helps preserve the natural and defined appearance of the hairline, ensuring a consistently full and realistic look for many years.
What are the aftercare instructions?
Adhering to the four-day post-treatment guidelines is crucial for protecting the newly applied pigments and achieving the best possible outcome. During this initial period, clients should refrain from washing, touching, cutting, or engaging in any strenuous physical activity that could disturb the treated area. Wearing a hat is permitted immediately after the session, and sleeping on the treated area will not compromise the pigments. Each client receives a comprehensive PDF guide containing step-by-step instructions designed to ensure a safe recovery and optimal long-term results.
So I don't need to take time off from work?
Scalp Micropigmentation is completely non-invasive and does not require surgical intervention, which means there is no downtime. Clients can return home directly after the procedure and are typically able to resume work or normal daily activities the very next day. The most important factor is following the four-day aftercare routine to support healing and ensure the best possible final outcome.
Will people be able to tell I have the treatment done?
Immediately following the first SMP session, the pigments may appear slightly darker or bolder than the final intended result. This is a normal stage, as pigments gradually settle into the skin over time. Within hours and overnight, the pigments soften and naturally blend with the scalp, producing the appearance of genuine hair follicles. Redness is common but usually resolves within 48 to 72 hours, depending on individual skin sensitivity. Once settled, the SMP looks completely natural and indistinguishable from real hair.
Does it hurt?
Most clients find SMP significantly less painful than a traditional tattoo, though individual experiences may vary. Practitioners focus on comfort throughout the procedure, using techniques specifically designed to minimize discomfort. The session is conducted carefully and gently, allowing clients to complete it with minimal pain or stress.
Do I need to keep the shaved look?
During your consultation, the SMP team evaluates your hair loss pattern to determine the ideal approach. For clients with advanced hair loss, such as Norwood 6 or 7, maintaining a shaved head is generally recommended to ensure that the pigment coverage blends seamlessly with the scalp. Filler treatments, which add density to thinning areas or crowns, are suitable for clients who still have some hair. SMP replicates natural hair follicles permanently but does not produce actual hair growth.
Do you also do scar concealment?
Yes. Scalp Micropigmentation is highly effective for concealing scars resulting from surgery, injury, or previous hair transplants. Both FUE and FUT transplant scars can be camouflaged, creating a smooth, uniform, and natural-looking scalp appearance.
Do I need to cut my hair before the SMP treatment?
Clients receiving filler or scar concealment treatments are typically asked to come in with the shortest hair length they plan to maintain unless otherwise instructed. For advanced hair loss cases, shaving the head prior to treatment is necessary, and maintaining that length afterward ensures that the SMP pigments blend naturally with the existing scalp.
What do I do for optimal maintenance?
Our team provides recommendations for products specifically designed to preserve and enhance SMP results. For additional guidance and a free consultation regarding the best products for your treatment, clients are encouraged to follow the link provided on the page.
Do I have something to worry about when I continue to shave my head?
Shaving the head will not interfere with your SMP results. We recommend particular products to help maintain the pigment integrity, which are detailed on our product recommendation page.
Will it affect the treatment if I continue to shave my head?
Daily shaving and regular scalp washing will not compromise the SMP pigments. Because the pigments are deposited within the epidermis layer, they remain durable and long-lasting. Most clients shave daily and enjoy a fully natural and enduring SMP appearance.
How much will the SMP treatment cost?
The cost of SMP treatment is personalized for each client depending on the level of hair loss and the size of the scalp area requiring coverage. Generally, the process begins with two sessions scheduled one week apart, and in some cases, a third session is recommended one to three months later to perfect density and visual consistency. Scar concealment treatments typically range from $800 to $1,000 per session. Hair restoration treatments for levels two through four are usually priced between $2,400 and $3,400, while categories five through seven generally range from $3,400 to $4,200. Comprehensive treatment that addresses both the top of the scalp and any scar concealment often falls between $4,200 and $5,200. Each plan is fully customized to the client’s hair loss pattern and aesthetic goals to ensure the final result looks natural and balanced.
How do I best protect my SMP from sunlight?
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can gradually cause SMP pigments to fade, which may reduce the longevity and vibrancy of the treatment. Clients are advised to wear protective hats or apply high-quality sunscreen when spending extended time outdoors. Consistent sun protection helps preserve pigment quality and maintain a natural, uniform appearance over time.
How much does it cost?
Pricing for SMP depends on the scale of hair loss and the amount of work required. Most treatment plans start with two sessions spaced one week apart, with a possible third session one to three months later for refinement. Scar concealment sessions usually cost between $800 and $1,000 each. Treatments for hair loss categories two through four typically range from $2,400 to $3,400, while levels five through seven are generally priced from $3,400 to $4,200. Full top-of-scalp treatments combined with scar concealment across two or three sessions usually fall between $4,200 and $5,200.
When are the payments due?
A $400 deposit is required to secure your treatment appointments. Sessions are often scheduled with an eight-week waiting period. The remaining balance is generally divided evenly across the first two sessions. Financing options are available for clients who prefer to spread the cost over several months for convenience and affordability.

Just finished my 3rd session with Walter, best investment ever. I've tried everything short of a hair transplant over the past ten years and eventually stumbled upon SMP. I searched and researched the best SMP practitioners in the country and then decided to call the folks at Zang. Ridwan expertly walked me through the whole procedure and answered all of my questions.
If you're comfortable with the buzz cut look, SMP is the only way to go. And the team at Zang SMP are the real deal, true artists.

As a female, I didn't want to leave a public review in fear of someone I know seeing it - but at the same time, I want everyone to know about the amazingness that Zang SMP is!!! As someone who struggled with severe postpartum hair loss and a receding hair line, I really thought I would be a slave to hair powders and fillers for life (if not a transplant) and that has all changed!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience!! If you are female and hesitant to do this, DON'T BE!!! It will change your life!!! Huge thank you to Ridwan, Walter, and the rest of the guys at Zang!! Forever grateful!
Laura
I don't normally write reviews cause it's a waste of my time but I have to this time. Over the last 20 years, I've done 3 hair transplant procedures and I was not happy with the results. I started looking into SMP and call many places before I settled with ZangSMP. It's a bit more expensive but let me tell you, worth every pennies. After the 2nd time, everyone said there's no sign that I was ever bald. And what can I say about Walter. I couldn't thank him enough. He gave me the confident I needed and a new look in life. He's such a perfectionist and took the time to do it right and make sure I'm happy with the result. I even recommended my brother to give him a call.

Thank u so much Walter and Ridd for your excellent customer service and I can't be any happier with the results. Walter is truly a master of his craft and he was able to hide my scar very well. I had gone to a different smp place before but wasnt happy with results. Zang Smp gave me the results I was looking for. There a reason why they have 5 stars on their reviews! Highly recommend!

These guys changed my life for the better. I have had alopecia for 10 years, wearing wigs and being generally uncomfortable. I was looking for a long-term solution to my alopecia and this was it. Ridwan is a delight to set things up with, and Walter has a real eye for the details. This is worth the money. A load has been lifted and I couldn’t be happier. My only regret is not coming here sooner!

Zang is THE most skilled and experienced SMP practitioner BY FAR. I have had multiple treatments with him to fill in the density in my hair and beard, and the results are amazing. People don't even believe I've had anything done until I show them my before/after pics. Zang is a great guy with an incredible attention to detail, and his work has restored my confidence big time. I really can't recommend him enough. 5 stars!
